The Food for the Soul

Hello friends, I greet you all with photos of fresh and colourful flowers and the picture credit goes to Riya, my daughter! When one is reading a novel and the impression of few quotes in them, remains etched in the heart, what one should do? In my case I decided to share it with you. Actually, I’m currently reading a novel, titled ‘The Rosary’ written by well acclaimed author, Florence L. Barclay. It’s a story of deep love and attachment between the two cheif protagonist, Miss Jane Champion and Mr Dalmain Garth. I’m not going to divulge the plot to you, only a couple of quotes from the book.

In the first one, the old and wise housekeeper, who was more than a mother figure to the hero, after the death of his own in childhood, remarked about him. She said, “It appears to me your attention is given entirely to the outside of the cup and platter, and you care nothing for all the good things that lie within.”

The above statement is more than an apt commentary on today’s world. Most of the people are blindly running after superficial gratification, altogether ignoring or have no time to discover what lies behind an outwardly glossy and attractive personality and for that matter a plain one!

The capability to perceive or peep into the inner self and qualities of others and making an effort to understand the needs and emotions of them is very much essential for nurturing a sensible soul. Do we have the patience or the temperament for that?

The other quote is ” Trust in Lord with all thine heart, and lean not unto thine understanding. In all the way acknowledge Him and He shall direct thy path.”

If we depend wholeheartedly on God, the Almighty, we have nothing to fear about or have any apprehensions and doubts. His generous judgment will show us the path ahead. The criteria is solely to believe in Him, because He knows better regarding our welfare.

Friends, on the Christmas eve, let’s all pray to Lord Jesus to show us the right path to proceed. We may all strive to make our inner soul as beautiful as we try to make the outer appearance. Because all things glittering is not gold. And for the gold it has to first burn in fire to get it’s glitter.

Wishing you all a Merry Christmas. May Lord protect us all and bless us with health and happiness.
