Pure Love

Hello friends, I read the above quote and got myself to think about pure love and its existence. How can we tell that when we love somebody, it’s pure? The foremost characteristic of the said emotion is selflessness. That means you are ready to sacrifice anything for the person you love and you put the interest of that person above yourself.

Pure love doesn’t require the outer expression of the emotion, it’s the silent devotion and dedication for the Beloved, which matters. True love doesn’t manifest itself accurately in happier times, we come to perceive the actual intensity of it at the time of crisis. Being there for each other through thick and thin like a rock, is real love.

The person is really unfortunate who has kicked the pure love away for his or her own selfish reasons. When the awareness sets in, it might have been too late to salvage the situation. In this context, I must tell you about the couplet of the famous poet Rahim of the Mughal era, ‘Rahiman dhaga prem ka, na toro chatkai. Tutey pe fir na jurey, jurey gath par jay, it means that according to Rahim, love is like a string, don’t break it at your whim. Once severed can’t be tied, if you do tie it back, there would be knots.

We always complain that we are not loved as much as we desire but do our love reaches up to the same parameters? Love has the power to melt the heart of a stone and make the person reciprocate it equally. Maybe sometimes we get disappointed by the selfishness or the self-centredness of the person in question and feel heartbroken. But scepticism shouldn’t creep in and tend to digress from the path of love, it may come calling in another manner and form.

Friends, it’s always true that love can make the world go round. A sweet smile, a gentle word or a caring act can pacify many grudges and grievances one nurtures in their bossom, silently. As the heat and light of the sun go hand in hand, so do love and sacrifice. Some sincere efforts and gestures go a long way in spreading love and amenity.

Keep the light of true love burning bright, act as a beacon in a lighthouse, it may help many lost souls to find their way back to home
